Randi Mason Comments on Mid-Market M&A Trends in Mergers & Acquisitions
Partner Randi Mason, chair of Morrison Cohen's Corporate Practice, was quoted in the Mergers & Acquisitions article, “No Surprises in May as Mid-Market M&A Continues to Plummet,” which examined the continued softness in mid-market deal activity. With year-to-date transaction volume down 6 percent, experts attribute the sluggish environment to prolonged geopolitical uncertainty, which has extended due diligence timelines and left buyers in no rush to close.
Randi offered perspective on the market's current dynamics, noting that while choppiness and caution persist, deals are still getting done. "It is not surprising to me to see that there's a little bit of choppiness in the market," said Randi. "Deals are starting and then pausing as people are doing their due diligence. I think when you compare it to four years ago, buyers are still a little bit more cautious. They're being more careful with their diligence. It's not a race to the finish line, but they are getting deals done."
She also observed that the market has shown unexpected resilience in the face of geopolitical disruption, with dealmakers returning more quickly than anticipated following the outbreak of conflict in Iran.
