Morrison Cohen Joins as a Member of the Law Firm Antiracism Alliance
November 19, 2020 - Morrison Cohen is proud to announce that the firm has joined as a member of the Law Firm Antiracism Alliance (LFAA).
The LFAA is a coalition of law firms that was founded earlier this year in response to the nationwide racial justice protests. Begun as an initiative by members of the Association of Pro Bono Counsel in conjunction with the Racial Justice Institute at the Shriver Center of Poverty Law in Chicago, the LFAA aims to address systemic racism in the law and governmental institutions. The LFAA’s stated mission is: “To leverage the resources of the private bar in partnership with legal services organizations to amplify the voices of communities and individuals oppressed by racism, to better use the law as a vehicle for change that benefits communities of color and to promote racial equity in the law.”
LFAA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation. Started with 18 original charter members, the LFAA now has a network of more than 240 of the nation’s leading law firms.
“Morrison Cohen is proud to join the LFAA and to contribute to the legal community’s robust response to the pressing systemic problems in our legal and governmental institutions,” said Alvin C. Lin, Chairman of the firm’s Diversity Committee. “The LFAA’s mission also furthers Morrison Cohen’s long-standing commitment to principles of non-discrimination and social justice. In the coming years, Morrison Cohen hopes that its contribution of legal capital will help to effectuate the LFAA’s goals and to expand human rights and advance social justice for all.”
