Morrison Cohen Represents SOVAS in Connection with Commissioning and Installation of James Earl Jones Bronze Sculpture at Broadway Theatre
Morrison Cohen is proud to represent longtime pro bono client, the Society of Voice Arts and Sciences (SOVAS), in connection with the commissioning and installation of a larger-than-life bronze bust honoring legendary actor James Earl Jones at the James Earl Jones Theatre on Broadway.
The sculpture was commissioned by SOVAS with support from The Shubert Organization and Black Theatre United and was created by acclaimed sculptor Littleton Alston. The bust will be unveiled on June 16, 2026 at the theatre where Mr. Jones made his Broadway debut in 1958 and will remain as a permanent installation.
Morrison Cohen represented SOVAS in connection with multiple aspects of the project, including working with the James Earl Jones estate to arrange for licensing relating to this sculpture and smaller model busts (which are awarded as the annual James Earl Jones Prize, as part of SOVAS’s industry-renowned Voice Arts Awards); contracting the creation of the sculpture and smaller busts with the artist; and coordinating the sculpture’s installation and maintenance at the James Earl Jones Theatre.
Morrison Cohen has provided pro bono services to SOVAS for several years in various capacities. As SOVAS worked with the James Earl Jones estate on this tribute and several related matters over the past two years, the firm played a significant role in helping bring this project to fruition. In recognition of its contributions, SOVAS presented Morrison Cohen with a 2026 Voice Arts Award for distinguished pro bono service.
The Morrison Cohen team—Tess Bonoli, Alvin Lin and David J. Kozlowski—is honored to attend the June 16 unveiling ceremony at the James Earl Jones Theatre.
