Amber Will Becomes Member of NYSBA Task Force on Homelessness and the Law
Congratulations to Associate Amber Will, who was recently appointed a member of New York State Bar Association’s Task Force on Homelessness and the Law and was soon thereafter elected as chair of the Homelessness and the Criminal Justice/Parole System subcommittee.
The Task Force examines the causes and effects of the homelessness crisis, including the ways in which that crisis is affected by the criminal justice and healthcare systems, with focus on legal and policy considerations in New York State. The Task Force explores ways in which the federal, state, and local governments can take concrete steps to reduce the number of individuals experiencing homelessness and to improve the lives of individuals who continue to experience homelessness.
Amber was selected for this prestigious appointment by Partner William Russell of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP and sponsored by Hon. Helen E. Freedman (Ret.). “I am honored to become a member of this important Task Force and to chair the Homelessness and the Criminal Justice/Parole System subcommittee, as both roles provide a perfect opportunity to combine my legal and public policy backgrounds. I look forward to collaborating with other lawyers and professionals and contributing in a meaningful way to the conversation about homelessness, a topic I care deeply about.”
“This is a very exciting and significant appointment for Amber and the firm and epitomizes the ways in which our lawyers strive to give back to the community,” said Morrison Cohen Chair & Co-Managing Partner Y. David Scharf.
