Alvin Lin Quoted in Legaltech News on How Legal Tech Can Help Advance DEI
Alvin Lin was quoted in Legaltech News in an article entitled “Mansfield Rule Highlights Legal Tech Gaps in Diversity Efforts.” The November 9 article discussed how legal tech can help to further the goals of Diversity Lab’s Mansfield Rule Certification process, which requires organizations to consider at least 30 percent women and diverse attorneys for promotions, lateral hiring, significant leadership roles and inclusion on pitch teams.
Morrison Cohen joined the Mansfield initiative in March 2022, and Alvin said that through Mansfield Rule’s knowledge-sharing forums, he learned that leveraging contact relationship management (CRM) platforms can be a “useful way to further DEI goals by tracking and prioritizing participation in client pitching, marketing, and client management by diverse attorneys,” he said. “Much like HR platforms assist in managing employee relationships, CRM platforms assist in managing attorney-client relationships.”
While Alvin said that Morrison Cohen is considering a CRM system in the future, for now the firm has found a renewed focus on developing long-term strategies that would aide their DEI efforts. He stated, “We started by employing tools available through our existing payroll and HR software platform … that enhance data collection for both recruitment and current employee management.”
