David Saxe and Brett Dockwell Author Article on Proposed Commercial Rent Control Legislation in New York City

November 29, 2018 – The Hon. David B. Saxe, (ret.) and Brett Dockwell authored the article “Commercial Rent Control: Back Again?” that appeared in the New York Law Journal on November 28, 2018. The article examines proposed legislation advocating for the reconsideration of commercial rent control by members of the New York City Council.  The bill, the Small Business Jobs Survival Act (Intro 737), is in response to the retail vacancies that have multiplied in New York City in recent years, and aims to remedy the issue.  The article provides a brief, non-technical review of the bill and the legal and practical hurdles it faces if enacted.
