Y. David Scharf Quoted on Expected Flood of Litigation Arising from the Coronavirus Pandemic

May 5, 2020 - Morrison Cohen Chair and Co-Managing Partner Y. David Scharf was quoted about the potential flood of litigation arising from the Coronavirus pandemic in two publications - the Financial Times article "Who pays the bill? The coming deluge of pandemic litigation," and the Bloomberg Money Stuff article, “Money Stuff: WeWork Will See Softbank in Court.” The articles comment on the potential legal scenarios and considerations affecting aggrieved parties in pursuit remedies over business losses related to the Coronavirus.

In examination of the growing chorus of clients who are inquiring about their options, Y. David Scharf notes, "We are preparing the lawsuits, the litigation budgets and the strategic analyses for those who are prepared to litigate. And they want to launch as soon as the court system is open."

No industry has been immune from the effects of the pandemic, leading to a broad range of potential litigants across various industries and sectors.  "Everyone has been ravaged. Everyone's been impacted," Mr. Scharf said.

Inquiring parties may refer to Morrison Cohen's COVID-19 Resource Taskforce for information to help clients navigate through the challenges brought upon by the pandemic.
