Randi Mason was featured in a Law.com article entitled “In the Flight to Cost-Effectiveness, Midsize Firms Are Positioned to Pick Up Market Share.” In the October 26, 2022 article, Randi discussed how Morrison Cohen is well positioned to thrive in this challenging economic cycle, offering prospective clients more reasonable rates, more efficient staffing, and more discerning billing practices.

Randi stated, “We’re seeing prospective clients approach us because they are looking for high-quality counsel that is less expensive. There’s a big opportunity to have clients join our roster… and we’re not seeing a lot of pressure from existing clients. That has to do with the way we intentionally pivot our approach and adapt to our clients’ needs. If anything, I envision we’ll pick up market share if we enter a recession.”

Randi also discussed how Morrison Cohen’s high level of discernment for transactional legal bills appeals to price-conscious corporate clients. She said, “If a client is doing a large M&A transaction upwards of half a billion, then we’ll throw a whole team on it. There’s no way to get it done without it. But if the transaction is a bridge financing by an existing PE sponsor to get the company from here to there in an efficient manner… then we’re not going to throw a whole team on it. We’re not going to boil the ocean.” She added, “It can be harder for bigger firms to scale up and down because making those judgment calls is a skill.”
