Randi Mason Featured in Law360 Q&A on Firm Culture Initiatives
Randi Mason, co-chair of our Corporate Department, was featured in a Law360 article entitled “Task Force Leader on Connecting Employees.” In the February 23 Q&A, Randi discussed her role as the leader of a firm task force created to foster Morrison Cohen’s culture, collaboration, and client service during the pandemic and the years beyond.
She described some of the task force’s initiatives – which include a meditation program with a mindfulness coach, a firm-wide book club, and fundraising drives – stating that the programs are directed at partners and associates, as well as non-lawyers, because, “all of us are in the business of servicing our clients. We're on one team.”
Randi discussed the firm’s emphasis on culture, explaining: “Firm culture has always been one of our strongest selling points in our recruiting efforts. We have always made an effort to treat our attorneys with respect, to enable them to have personal lives, to make sure they take vacation time and give them one-on-one mentorship and training experience with senior attorneys. One of the reasons that people come to us is because we're a nice place to work. As we look to the future and know that we are going to be continuing in this hybrid environment, we want to continue to be a nice place to work.”
Randi said that to cultivate a positive professional environment, “It starts at the top. Leaders need to be respectful and compassionate and expect that other people in their organizations will also be respectful and compassionate… I think that's the foundation for good interpersonal relationships.”
