Partner Hon. David Saxe (Ret.) Quoted in New York Post on Cairo Judicial Nomination
Morrison Cohen Partner Hon. David B. Saxe (Ret.) was quoted in an August 10, 2022 New York Post article entitled “Nassau County GOP Leader Joseph Cairo’s Daughter Nominated for NY Supreme Court.” The article discussed accusations of nepotism surrounding the recent judicial nomination of Lisa Cairo, the daughter of Nassau County Republican Party chairman Joseph Cairo, to the State Supreme Court.
The article also raised conflicting opinions about the bipartisan deal to evenly parcel out judgeships instead of holding judicial races. Judge Saxe defended the bipartisan selection process, stating, “I see nothing wrong with cross-endorsements as long as the judges are screened by a committee comprised of diverse community interests. Judicial elections between party candidates turns judges into politicians — not a desirable outcome.”
