Partner Hon. David Saxe (Ret.) Quoted in New York Law Journal on Cannatoro Candidacy as Chief Judge
Morrison Cohen Partner Hon. David B. Saxe (Ret.) was quoted in a December 7, 2022 New York Law Journal article entitled “'Focused on Consensus-Building': Cannataro Would Make History as Chief Judge While Ensuring Continuity.”
The article discussed the merits of Judge Anthony Cannataro becoming New York’s next chief judge, stating that as acting chief judge, Cannataro is the only candidate of the seven shortlisted who is currently a member of the state’s highest court. If appointed and confirmed, he would also make history as the state’s first openly gay chief judge.
Justice Saxe noted that Cannataro is one of three candidates on the shortlist with appellate experience, including Justices Hector LaSalle and Jeffrey Oing. He said, “I think it is beneficial to select as a chief judge someone who has served in an appellate capacity on the New York State Judiciary. Fortunately, the list of candidates contains three such excellent judges.”
