Keith Markel to Speak on Brand Power and Protection at The Fashion Law’s Brand Forward 2026 Event
Morrison Cohen Partner Keith Markel, chair of the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice and co-chair of its Luxury Brands Group, will speak at The Fashion Law’s Brand Forward 2026 Conference, taking place September 17, 2026, in New York City.
Keith will moderate the panel “The New Rules of Brand Power,” joined by esteemed retail leaders and panelists Oneeka Botu, Director of Human Resources at Valentino; Ivette Goldfrank, Director of Legal Affairs at LoveShackFancy; Yungbi Jang, General Counsel at Amorepacific; and Carmel Mushin, General Counsel at Away.
The panel will examine how brands can build and protect value as consumer discovery increasingly shifts to algorithms, marketplaces and social platforms. The discussion will address the evolving relationship between distinctive brand identity, private-label expansion and “dupe” culture, as well as the line between inspiration and infringement. Panelists will also explore strategies for building durable brand value in an increasingly competitive and technology-driven retail environment.
Brand Forward is an invitation-only retail leadership summit bringing together general counsel, executives and advisors for closed-door conversations on the issues shaping the future of global retail, including brand building, enforcement strategy, emerging technology and AI, and platform power.
