Jason Gottlieb Tells CoinDesk that Coinbase Argument Against SEC Action Will Have Global Impact
Partner Jason Gottlieb was quoted in a CoinDesk article entitled “Coinbase Poised to Make Final Pitch in Bid to Kill SEC Accusations Quickly.” The article discussed Coinbase’s argument to dismiss the SEC lawsuit against it. Coinbase has long held (correctly, in Gottlieb’s view) that the tokens being traded on the platform are not investment contracts, and that the SEC is overstepping its legislative authority – and violating the “Major Questions Doctrine” that outlines the relationship between administrative agencies and Congress.
Jason said, “This is an extremely important case for, not just the cryptocurrency industry, but for the future of digital assets in America.” He added, “The treatment of digital assets and the sale of digital assets is absolutely a major question. It's much larger than a trillion-dollar question. It's quite literally the future of the global economy.”
