Jason Gottlieb Quoted in Wall Street Journal Article on Cryptocurrency Lawsuits
Jason Gottlieb, Partner in the Firm’s Business Litigation Department and Chair of Morrison Cohen’s Digital Assets practice, was quoted in a June 1, 2022 Wall Street Journal article entitled “Crypto Industry Sees Surge in Lawsuits as Investor Losses Pile Up.” The article explores the uptick in lawsuits from individuals who have suffered cryptocurrency investment losses, including suits from those alleging tokens were sold under false pretenses.
According to Jason, who tracks cryptocurrency litigation, the cryptocurrency industry has been drawing both plaintiff and defense lawyers who are now realizing that crypto is not “some obscure backwater for a small gaggle of techno-libertarian nerds.” As Jason stated, it is “a real business.” In the article, Jason notes that cryptocurrency litigation has transitioned into the mainstream. “We’re seeing all of the normal kinds of litigation that you would see in more traditional companies,” said Jason.
