Jason Gottlieb Discusses SEC Vote to Include Crypto Under Securities Definition
Jason Gottlieb was quoted in an April 17, 2023 CoinDesk article entitled “SEC Lays Its Cards on the Table With Assertion That DeFi Falls Under Securities Rules.” The article discussed the SEC’s vote last week to reopen the comment period on a new proposed exchange rule, and the SEC’s move to make clear that the SEC intends to sweep decentralized finance into its regulatory net.
"The SEC is simply seeking to ban DeFi protocols in America,” Jason said. “In doing so, the SEC is substituting its own opinions for Congress' prerogative on a major question, central to the future of the American economy." He added that the change "would sweep decentralized software protocols into a regulatory framework that was not built for them, and with which they literally, technologically cannot comply."
