Danielle Lesser Quoted in Commercial Observer Regarding Retail Lease Provisions Post-Pandemic
Danielle Lesser was quoted in a Commercial Observer article entitled “COVID-Era Lease Provisions: What Landlords and Tenants Are Trying to Cement” regarding tenants’ demand for flexible deal terms and cataclysm protection clauses post-pandemic.
In the January 24, 2023 article, Danielle explained that not only have retailers been able to negotiate more flexible deals, but the amount and size of deals are changing too. Danielle said, “Tenants are possibly looking at smaller footprints, more carefully selected locations. They’re not opening for the sake of opening as they might have done in a pre-pandemic environment. The real estate decisions are very calculated and careful today, and that’s either a function of the pandemic, or a combination of the pandemic and potentially the looming recession.”
