Danielle Lesser Featured in Mid-Market Report on Bringing Up Future Female Leaders

Danielle Lesser, partner and chair of our Business Litigation Department, was featured in Law.com’s Mid-Market Report, in an article entitled “Morrison Cohen Business Litigation Chair on Training the Next Generation of Women-Lawyers.”

In the June 15, 2022 Q&A, Danielle discussed how setting expectations, offering early responsibility, and taking a long view of an attorney’s full potential are some of the ways in which Morrison Cohen hires and retains future female leaders.

Danielle said, “Our approach to hiring is we hire laterally in the more junior years. We look at them not just for what their skillset is but what is their potential for the long-term. We hire people who, in the interview process, we can envision being partners in our firm down the line because we do promote from within.”

Danielle said that while there are disadvantages to working remotely, “I think some of the benefits of the COVID pandemic and the hybrid work environment is that it helped allow women to have a better work-life balance.”

Danielle credited Morrison Cohen for being a progressive work environment where women are well represented in positions of management. “During my 30 years at the firm, our department has always been managed by a woman… I hope to pay that forward to other attorneys I have hired throughout my career that have remained at the firm.”
