Daniel Studin to Speak on Panel Discussing More Estate Planning Misfires of the Rich and Famous, Hosted by the New York City Bar Association

The New York City Bar Association will host a live webinar on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at 2:00 PM EDT called “More Estate Planning Misfires of the Rich and Famous.”  The panelists, including Senior Counsel Daniel Studin, will examine missteps in the estate planning of highly publicized figures and celebrities and address planning to avoid similar mistakes.  Daniel will discuss lessons that can be learned from issues in the estate of Eleanor Close Barzin (daughter of heiress, executive and philanthropist Marjorie Merriweather Post and granddaughter of cereal magnate CW Post) that resulted from the failure of Ms. Barzin and her advisors to properly coordinate documents that disposed of assets located in multiple jurisdictions, domestically and abroad.  This fascinating case, involving an heir of one of the great American families and, at its core, a dispute over which beneficiaries should bear the estate’s tax liabilities, is but another example of how the absence of a well-designed plan and absolute clarity in estate planning documents can lead to disastrous, unintended results.

Full details on this CLE program, including registration, can be found here.

This webinar will provide transitional and non-transitional credit to all attorneys; members and non-members are welcome to participate.
