Christopher Milito Quoted in The Real Deal on Exclusion and Financial Misconduct in Ostad Family Dispute
Partner Christopher Milito was recently quoted on behalf of client Steven Ostad in connection with the ongoing family dispute surrounding Flatiron Realty. The Real Deal article, “Bags of Cash: Steven Ostad Accused Brothers of Exclusion and Mismanagement,” details Steven’s lawsuit against his brothers, Michael and Edward Ostad, stating he was improperly excluded from a real estate portfolio and affiliated lending business despite investing more than $6 million.
The complaint further states that the brothers mismanaged rental operations across a portfolio of 10 properties in Manhattan, the Bronx and Queens, including claims that rental income was diverted and kept off the books. The lawsuit follows earlier litigation initiated by Michael and Edward Ostad in 2025, as well as foreclosure actions tied to approximately $70 million in debt.
Christopher commented: “Steven waited a full year after his brothers sued him over the real estate business to bring his own affirmative claims on the lending side of the business. That was an exercise in restraint – an exercise Steven continued by not attaching the photographs, employee affidavits and bank records he already has in his possession to this new complaint.”
