Christopher Milito Quoted in Daily Mail Regarding Reality Star Client’s Battle for Ownership of Business

Christopher Milito, Partner in Morrison Cohen’s Business Litigation Department, was cited in a July 13, 2022 DailyMail.com post regarding client Julia Haart’s civil lawsuit against estranged husband Silvio Scaglia. Haart, who stars in the Netflix reality series, “My Unorthodox Life,” is suing Scaglia for defrauding her out of half of their billion dollar-plus global media company, Elite World Group (EWG), of which Haart was CEO.

Instead of paying her a salary as CEO of the agency, Haart’s husband claimed to have given her half the shares in EWG's parent company, Freedom Holding, Inc. (FHI), but instead created a secret back-door clause allowing him to issue new, higher-ranked shares that gave him control of the company.

The article cited Haart’s legal complaint that  Milito filed on her behalf, which called Scaglia's representations to Haart concerning her ownership and control of FHI “a pack of lies.” The claim went on to state:  ‘”It cannot be that a man can convince his wife to give up millions in dollars in salary and benefits, plus an employment contract at the peak of her career (along with the security and independence that come with those things) and then leave her with nothing when his bait-and-switch is revealed.’”

News of Haart’s litigation was also covered in the New York Post and People.com.
