Aaron Taishoff focuses his practice on a broad spectrum of commercial real estate transactions.

Aaron brings more than 15 years of experience advising clients on the acquisition and disposition of real property assets; representing lenders and borrowers in permanent, bridge, mezzanine and construction financing, as well as loan purchases and sales; handling office, retail and industrial leasing and related transactions on behalf of owners and tenants; negotiating license and access agreements; and structuring joint venture transactions. 

As part of his practice, Aaron regularly counsels domestic and international, institutional and non-institutional clients on distressed loan workouts and restructurings and equity and debt investments.

Prior to joining Morrison Cohen, Aaron was a partner in the Real Estate practice group of K&L Gates LLP. 

Experience

Prior to joining Morrison Cohen:

  • Represented several U.S. based, institutional and non-institutional lenders in connection with the origination of numerous acquisition, construction, mezzanine, project and note on note financing loans ranging in size from $2 million to $100 million.
  • Represented two Korean asset management companies in connection with a joint venture partnership with a prominent U.S. real estate developer to acquire an office tower in New Jersey, which included a $142 million acquisition loan.
  • Represented a Korean asset management company as the lender on the workout, modification and extension of an $80 million mezzanine loan, as well as the origination of a $20 million rescue capital loan, in connection with a portfolio of approximately 30 hotels located across the U.S.
  • Represented a Korean asset management company on the origination of a $71 senior loan in connection with the borrower’s refinance of a multi-family apartment complex in Portland, Oregon.
  • Represented a U.S. insurance company on the origination of mortgage and mezzanine loans, in the aggregate amount of $50 million, secured by and in connection with the borrower’s acquisition of a 325-unit multifamily community in Georgia.  
  • Represented a Korean investment fund in connection with the acquisition of a majority interest in a joint venture entity responsible for the development of the campus expansion for Pace University in the Financial District, New York.
  • Represented an A-list movie actress in connection with the lease of an iconic, landmarked retail space in downtown Manhattan, New York.
  • Represented a private owner-operator group in all of its day-to-day real estate operations, including the purchase, disposition and refinance of residential, mixed-use and office properties throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn, New York, as well as the negotiation of several construction license and access agreements on behalf of both the developer and the neighboring owner.
