Anticipating appeals, troubleshooting legal issues and determining the most effective approach to appellate proceedings.

Our Appellate Practice offers our clients comprehensive guidance through the appellate process and sound strategies for successfully navigating their appeals. Working alongside our trial team, our appellate team is able to anticipate potential appeals, troubleshoot legal issues in advance and determine the most effective and economical approach to appellate proceedings. When brought in by a client after a loss at trial, we are equally adept at preparing for appellate court, thoroughly analyzing the lower court record and conducting extensive legal research to perfect the appeal.

Our attorneys have appeared before both federal and state appellate courts to appeal cases across a wide range of practice areas and industries, including general and complex commercial and business; complex securitizations involving residential backed mortgage securities, lending, and finance; intellectual property disputes; contract, fraud, insurance, and real estate controversies; employment-related matters; high-end matrimonial disputes; and all aspects of bankruptcy.

Our seasoned appellate team, which includes lawyers who have served as judicial law clerks in both the State and Federal systems prior to joining our firm, provides consultation to clients and legal teams on strategy, trial preparation, and brief review. We are often called upon by attorneys to advise on the persuasiveness of their briefs and appellate oral arguments prior to appearing before the New York State Appellate Court. Additionally, we provide strategic case review, offering our clients an impartial review on issues that are important to a judge and jury and reviewing and analyzing case strategy, papers, and case options.

Because of our lawyers' diverse capabilities and years of experience, we are able to provide our clients with a wide range of appellate services, including summary trials and mini trials, evaluation of appellate arguments and positions, moot court of pending matters in appellate divisions and courts of appeals, and private appellate tribunals to determine matters decided at nisi prius
