Reminder to New York State Employers: Paid Sick Leave Takes Effect on September 30, 2020
September 25, 2020 - As a reminder to all New York employers, even though they are not entitled to begin using paid sick leave until January 1, 2021, employees start to accrue such paid sick leave on September 30, 2020. We previously addressed the enactment of this statewide job-protected sick leave law in a prior client alert at the time it was signed into law by Governor Cuomo. The following client alert discusses the details of the paid sick leave law and provides steps employers can take now to prepare for its implementation now and in the new year.
