Morrison Cohen’s Women’s Initiative Network Hosts Second Skill-Building Workshop

Morrison Cohen’s Women’s Initiative Network (WIN) hosted the second of two skill-building workshops, this time focused on peer coaching. Executive Coach Ami Watkin, of Watkin Consulting LLC, led both sessions. Ami is an executive coach, people strategist and former Morrison Cohen corporate lawyer.

In this workshop, WIN members built on the active listening skills they developed in the first session and learned to support their peers through the peer coaching process, in which they work together to address problems, in the workplace or outside, reflect on current practices and share ideas. The confidential process is structured around a coachee (a participant who requests support), coaches (who partner with the coachee in service of the coachee’s desired outcome) and a facilitator (who helps to ensure the process stays on track and also acts as another coach).

To put participants’ newfound peer coaching skills into practice, WIN co-chairs Jessica Lipson and Gayle Pollack are coordinating small peer support groups for those who are interested. Ami will be available for two 30-minute “office hours” on February 23 and March 9 to facilitate these sessions.

Gayle noted, “The peer coaching setting provides a structure for us to support each other, which as we learned, we are all eager to do. We all appreciate being truly listened to and offered the perspective and guidance of our peers, who more often than not have been through similar experiences.”
