Morrison Cohen Recognizes Women’s History Month
“From the first settlers who came to our shores, from the first American Indian families who befriended them, men and women have worked together to build this nation. Too often the women were unsung and sometimes their contributions went unnoticed. But the achievements, leadership, courage, strength, and love of the women who built America was as vital as that of the men whose names we know so well.”
- President Jimmy Carter, designating March 2-8, 1980 the first National Women’s History Week

Today is the first day of Women’s History Month, which lasts through the end of March. American women of every race, class, and ethnic background have made historic contributions to the growth and strength of the nation in countless recorded and unrecorded ways, playing critical economic, cultural, and social roles in every sphere of life. It is our task to ensure that these contributions, and the role of American women in history, are not overlooked or undervalued, as has often been the case.
During Women’s History Month, we encourage everyone to seek out and learn more about the rich and varied contributions of women to our economy, society, and culture. We also honor and celebrate the many contributions of our own women colleagues to the life and prosperity of our firm community.
