Morrison Cohen Recognizes Pride Month
“You have to go the way your blood beats. If you don't live the only life you have, you won't live some other life, you won't live any life at all.”
- James Baldwin, writer and activist

June is Pride Month, a time to celebrate visibility, self-worth and dignity for LGBTQ+ persons, and to reject shame and social stigma.
For those who identify as members of the LBGTQ+ community, Pride is about living openly and freely as part of society without having to hide part of who we are. For it is only by living openly that we can be a part of, and contribute to the broader community, at work, in the city in which we live, or in this nation and world.
For those who do not themselves identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community, Pride month is an important opportunity to learn about and celebrate the contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals, and to affirm the commitment, as allies, to prioritize protecting the rights of the LGBTQ+ individuals, and stand up to those who advocate curtailing or revoking those rights.
Over the next month, we encourage everyone to partake in the many Pride month programs being hosted virtually and live by a variety of platforms and organizations in and around the City.
Happy Pride!
