Michael Mix Featured in Law.com Q&A Series

Michael Mix was featured in the January 10, 2023 Law.com Q&A series, “How I Made Partner,” in which he discussed lessons learned along the path from associate to partner. Michael credited Morrison Cohen for being “very supportive of attorneys spreading their wings in any way possible” and for its “collaborative, collegial environment where attorneys obtain hands-on experience from a very early level.”

When asked what the biggest surprise has been since becoming partner, Michael said, “Being a partner provided me with more of an opportunity to forge my own path and follow what interests me, enabling me to work more and more on digital assets matters and ultimately becoming a member of the firm’s growing and highly-rated Digital Assets Group.”

Michael said that the hybrid work system has not slowed the growth of the Digital Assets Group. In fact, he said, “Many of the Digital Assets Group’s clients are very comfortable with technology, and live in locations all around the world. The normalization of remote technology has therefore enabled us to grow our group’s business.”

Michael’s advice from the Q&A was featured in ALM’s popular digital newsletter “Morning Minute” on January 11. To associates who aspire to partnership, he said, “Try to be a ‘thinking’ associate. Instead of just doing the work that is assigned to you, try to spot issues and participate in strategic decisions.”
