Jenni Eastman Offers Advice to Junior Associates in Law360

Morrison Cohen COO Jenni Eastman was quoted in a Law360 article entitled “The Top Tips Senior Staff Want Junior Associates to Know.” Jenni was one of six law firm business professionals who offered practical advice to junior associates about the inner workings of law firms and their operations and a broader perspective on how lawyers can advance their careers.

Jenni shared, “If you find yourself coming home and venting to your spouse, family member or friend about something or someone at work, that's a great cue that it's time to share feedback with the person or people who generated that response. You have tremendous potential to make a situation or relationship better at work — or outside of work — by sharing feedback. Not only will it create a more cohesive, enjoyable, engaging work experience, it will also build trust with the people you are working with.”

She continued, “Start by providing feedback in a low-stakes situation, because, like anything else, it takes practice to get good at giving feedback. Lastly, pivot your mindset from ‘this is going to be a difficult conversation’ to ‘feedback is kind [because] you are addressing an issue directly instead of creating resentment, and it's going to improve this relationship and build trust.’”
