In Memory of Peter Weinstein
We were saddened to share that our former partner, Peter Weinstein, passed away on January 23, 2022. Peter was a corporate partner in the firm for over 20 years and, for most of those years, a name partner in what was then known as Morrison Cohen Singer & Weinstein, LLP. Peter also served on the executive committee for many of his years at the firm.
Peter graduated from Cornell University and received his law degree from Columbia University. Prior to joining the firm in the late 1980’s, Peter was an officer in the U.S. Army and later General Counsel at Black Clawson, a major producer of equipment for the pulp and paper industry, which became a long-time client of the firm. Peter also wrote numerous law-related articles regarding international legal issues.
Peter spoke French fluently and besides visiting France at least annually, Peter developed a number of France-based clients, including a major French insurer and a pharmaceutical company. While Peter was the consummate business-generator, he was also a versatile and smart lawyer who loved to participate in litigation strategy as much as he did counseling clients on business transactions. He also had a great sense of humor.
Peter is survived by his wife of 53 years, Laura, their two children, and four grandchildren. For those who knew him, we will miss him and remember him fondly.
