Gisselle Singleton Co-Authors Chapter in eDiscovery for Corporate Counsel on Designing an Effective Records Management Program
Gisselle Singleton, Morrison Cohen’s Associate Director of Practice Support & e-Discovery, co-authored a chapter in Thomson Reuters’ recently published book, eDiscovery for Corporate Counsel, 2024 ed. The book offers guidance from leading corporate counsel, outside counsel and service providers for managing litigation readiness and eDiscovery, controlling costs and crisis management.
Gisselle and co-author Hampton Coley, a consultant in our Litigation Support Department, wrote Chapter 6, “Designing an Effective Records Management Program.” The chapter explores the purpose and value of a records management (RM) program, the key concepts and components of an RM program and how to address some of the leading challenges in developing and operating an RM program.
The authors explained that “organizations (especially ones with legal and regulatory retention obligations) can benefit from a records management program purposefully designed to control the retention and disposition of information for compliance and business value.”
They continued, “It is important to note that records management is an essential component of an overarching information governance program. Moreover, an organization’s RM program is directly impacted by, and must conform with, the organization’s policies and procedures for implementing legal holds.”
