Eric Creizman Quoted in Wall Street Journal on Sen. Menendez Request for Separate Trial from Wife

Partner Eric Creizman was quoted in a Wall Street Journal article entitled “Bob Menendez’s Unusual Request: Don’t Try Me with My Wife.” The article discussed Sen. Bob Menendez and his wife’s request to split their cases from one another in an upcoming public-corruption trial. The New Jersey senator, his wife Nadine and three businessmen have pleaded not guilty to accusations of involvement in a bribery scheme. By separating their cases, the spouses seek to avoid damaging each other’s defense. A judge is expected to rule on the unusual request in the coming weeks.

Separate trials are rare for both legal and financial reasons. As Eric stated, “When defendants are indicted together, the presumption is that judicial economy favors trying them together.”
