David B. Saxe Co-Authors Article in New York Law Journal With Tips for Conducting Oral Arguments Post-Zoom
David B. Saxe, partner in the Alternative Dispute Resolution and Business Litigation Departments of Morrison Cohen and a former associate justice in the New York State Appellate Division, First Department, recently co-authored an article with former colleague Justice James M. Catterson in New York Law Journal entitled “Some Thoughts on Oral Advocacy: Some Old, Some New.”
In the January 18 article, Justices Saxe and Catterson stress the power of oral advocacy and state that cases are both won and lost as a result of oral argument. With Covid predicted to be waning and traditional oral appellate arguments on the cusp of return, the judges offer a practical refresher on best oral argument techniques for attorneys who have gotten used to the less formal practices of “argument-by-Zoom.”
