Brian Forman Participated in Two Italian Panels Regarding Digital Assets and IP
On May 19, 2022, Morrison Cohen Partner Brian Forman participated virtually in two panels held by Associazione Italiana dei Consulenti ed Esperti in Proprietà Industriale di Enti o Imprese (Italian Association of Consultants and Experts in Industrial Property of Entities or Companies) in Milan, Italy.
The first panel, entitled “Decrypting the New Digital Assets: NFTs and the IP Surroundings,” explored NFT purchasers’ and creators’ ability to leverage and commercialize their NFTs, ownership of IP rights, and commercial rights governing digital assets. Fellow panelists included Maximilian Schunke, a partner at Göhmann in Berlin; Pietro Pouché, a partner at Herbert Smith Freehills in London; and Giulia Maienza, an associate at Herbert Smith Freehills.
The second panel, entitled “A Deep Dive into Smart Contracts & License,” included an in depth discussion regarding how smart contracts work, as well as a conversation about how appropriate smart contracts are for documenting complicated provisions regarding IP rights. Panelists also included Pouché and Maienza.
Brian was invited to participate in the panel discussions by Stella Padovani, WW Intellectual Property & Brand Protection Senior Manager at Moncler, a Morrison Cohen client.
