Morrison Cohen Swings for Life at the Ezer Mizion Golf and Tennis Outing Helping Raise Money for the World’s Sixth largest Bone Marrow Registry

September 19, 2019. – On September 17, 2019, a beautiful fall day in New York, vice chairmen Steve Cooperman (corporate) and Y. David Scharf (litigation) took to the links with real estate department chair Andy Bank, and corporate partners Andy Arsiotis and Henry Zangara to shoot a 9 under 63 in the scramble at The Seawane Club in Hewlett Harbor, NY to support the Ezer Mizion Bone Marrow Registry.  Although the score was not enough to win a trophy, it was a wonderful day spent together supporting the cause for people in need of transplants as they fight cancer.  On the course, the players met a retired IDF sniper whose enlistment day check swab led him to become a lifesaving donor.  In the 10 years that the Swing for Life campaign has been held, its special donor pool has supported 50 lifesaving transplants.

Morrison Cohen is a longtime supporter of the Annual Ezer Mizion Golf Tournament with David Scharf participating in the inaugural benefit 10 years ago.  Over the years, Morrison Cohen members participating in the fundraising tournament included Joe Moldovan, Ed Gilbert and David Piedra.  Morrison Cohen has also supported the organization by providing pro bono legal services on various corporate governance, internal investigations and responding to subpoena.  David Scharf has also been a guest of honor and dinner chair of its fundraising galas held in New York City, with many members of the firm and clients in attendance throughout the years.
