Morrison Cohen Represents BML Properties Ltd in Massive Fraud Lawsuit over Caribbean Resort Project

December 28, 2017 – Morrison Cohen LLP and Glaser Weil Fink Howard Avchen & Shapiro LLP are representing BML Properties Ltd in a lawsuit against China Construction America, Inc. (“CCA”) and various related business entities for engaging in massive fraud, malicious acts of deceit and interference, and breaches of contract as part of a multi-year self-enrichment scheme related to the Baha Mar Resort project (the "Project") in The Bahamas.

The 259-page complaint, filed in New York State Supreme Court on December 26, 2017, accuses CCA of a scheme that led to the failure of the Project resulting in BML Properties losing its entire $845 million equity investment and the right to future benefits of running the resort.

CCA may face $2.25 billion in liability for misleading and defrauding BML Properties and depriving it of its investment.  The Project is the largest-ever Caribbean resort project and of great importance to the Bahamian economy.  The suit has been covered by The Wall Street Journal, Reuters and Bloomberg.
