What Employers Need to Know As New York UNPAUSES

May 18, 2020 - Our previous client alert discussed Governor Cuomo’s four-phase blueprint for reopening New York State, which is dubbed as “UNPAUSE” or “New York Forward.”  New York State has now provided additional guidance on the industries eligible to reopen at each phase, as well as issued industry-specific mandatory guidelines and best practices.  Employer responsibilities include affirming to New York State that the guidance issued has been reviewed and will be implemented prior to reopening, while also creating a Re-opening Safety Plan.  Employers should immediately begin reviewing the mandatory guidance and FAQs issued by New York State in order to create a logical, legally-sound Re-opening Safety Plan that will pass inspection and safeguard both employees and the public alike from harm, such as minimizing the risk of spreading COVID-19 at the workplace.
