Employers May Only Use the New Edition of the Form I-9 Going Forward
As of May 1, 2020, the Department of Homeland Security will only allow employers to use the 10/21/19 edition of USCIS Form I-9 to verify the identity and work authorization of individuals hired for employment in the U.S. The following alert provides guidance to employers on the proper completion of Form I-9 as well as the temporary modifications to the instructions for completion during the pendency of the COVID-19 pandemic, including the physical presence requirement.
