Robert M. Sedgwick is a Partner in the Firm's Executive Compensation and Benefits/ERISA Group and heads its Executive Compensation practice.

Rob specializes in designing and implementing employment, severance and related arrangements for CEOs and other senior executives of public and private enterprises, both domestic and foreign.   He also negotiates and implements similar arrangements for financial and other professionals (including investment bankers, asset managers, traders, analysts, lawyers and principals in private equity, hedge fund, and similar firms).  He represents groups as well as individuals, and employers as well as employees.  

Rob has represented the CEO’s of more than two dozen NYSE-listed companies in connection with their employment arrangements.  He has also represented numerous: CEO’s of corporations listed on the NASDAQ, American and London Stock Exchanges; CEO’s of portfolio companies owned by the major private equity firms; heads of investment banking groups at "bulge bracket" investment banks; successful fund managers and private equity firm partners; and scores of less highly compensated individuals.

Rob deals with the full range of issues relating to the employment and severance arrangements of his clients, including corporate governance, change in control, tax, pension, deferred compensation, restrictive covenants, severance benefits, disclosure, liquidity and accounting.  He also brings to bear wide knowledge of economic and contractual norms in his practice area, and he occasionally serves as an expert witness on matters within his area of expertise.

During the Carter Administration, Rob served on the White House Staff as Special Assistant to Alfred E. Kahn, the President's Advisor on Inflation.
